BRIDGEBONES sonic booster pad slides under bridge, improves instrument tone and response:
A spectrum analysis test of this invention is shown below (scroll down). The test was made on a continuously bowed A note (440 hz), with and without the pad.
The test shows that the signal to noise ratio is improved and the background noise level is reduced when using the bridge pad. The white area in the graph shows a noise reduction of about 3 - 5 decibels (25 - 40%) when the pad is used.
This permits the player to bow harder and create clearer loud overtones, if desired, without creating noise that overburdens the vibrating capacity of the violin body and disturbs listeners. It is also now possible to install a brighter bridge on the violin, to beef up high frequency overtones even more, without introducing noise.
